Hobo With A Shotgun

This past weekend, I had an important choice to make.  Pay money to see Thor, or pay money to see Hobo With A Shotgun.  Well, since I'm ardently against ANY 3D movie, I had to fore go Thor in favor or Hobo With A Shotgun...and, besides keeping my personal vendetta against 3D alive, I made the correct decision!  Hobo With A Shotgun is one of the best drive-in movies I've seen since Machete...which makes me think that I have an excellent idea for a double feature!!

Now, I'm sure that when you hear the title Hobo With A Shotgun, you're pretty sure what the movie is about...not unlike Snakes On A Plane.  But there's a bit more to this movie than just a Hobo wielding a Shotgun.  A hobo rides the rails to the end of the line, which happens to be in Hope City, which has been renamed by graffiti artists, Scum City.  Well, Scum City is run by The Drake, and evil crime lord who doesn't even pretend to obey the law, when we first meet him, he forces the people on the street to watch as he decapitates his own brother!!!  Our hobo friend is shocked by the crime and violence, but continues his plan to get the money to buy a lawnmower and start his own lawn mowing business...he even has a slogan picked out!  But, when he's about to buy his mower, thugs rob the store he's in and threaten to kill a young woman and her baby...what's a hobo to do?  That's right, buy a shotgun instead of a mower and begin dispensing justice in Scum City!!!

Rutger Hauer is amazing as the hobo...right back in his 80s style, in fact, this also might make a great double feature with Wanted: Dead Or Alive (another Hauer movie that's one of my favorites!).  Brian Downey is great as The Drake and there's some eye candy for the guys, Molly Dunsworth as Abby, the hooker with a heart who decides to throw in with the hobo and either mow lawns or mow down bad guys!

I'm giving Hobo With A Shotgun 4 out of 4 cigars, it's fun, it's violent, the bad guys get it good in the end (no double entendre intended) and it's just a fantastic drive-in style movie!  The drive-in is back my friends, and it's in my living room...but please don't try to park there!  And, remember that there's no such thing as a bad movie!
